During your first lesson, your tutor will discuss your linguistic objectives, explain how the program works, and guide you through the online learning materials.
During subsequent lessons, your tutor will answer all module-related questions and have discussions with you to test your grammar and oral knowledge. Tutoring sessions are an important part of the LRDG methodology as they allow you to practice your oral skills and increase your level of confidence by engaging in fun conversation and activities.
Here are some examples of activities you will participate in during your sessions:
Guided conversation for target grammatical and vocabulary: Your tutor might ask you "What did you do yesterday" in order to illicit the use of the past tense.
Role-play: You will be asked to take-on the role of someone else, such as an interviewer, doctor, manager, etc. to explore new vocabulary and various grammatical structures.
Debate: This practice will help you develop the skills needed for hypothetical and abstract discussion (necessary for obtaining an Oral C)
Correction/Feedback: Your tutor will take the time to provide constructive feedback on your oral production.
